BUY PRO CDP II ONLINE Gun in the Commander configuration is the Kimber Pro CDP. It has the Commander’s Government-size grip and aluminum alloy frame. It employs a 4′′ bull barrel rather than the 4.25′′ barrel with bushing of the authentic Commander, and both its slide and barrel are 1/4′′ shorter than the Commander.
The M1911 pistol was created between 1905 and 1911 by John Browning, Colt, and the Army Ordnance Board. This effort built on decades of autoloader research and development by Hiram Maxim, Hugo Borchardt, Herr Luger, the Mausers, and Browning himself. The M1911 fought through World War I and underwent a few minor improvements, but after that, the Ordnance Board appeared to lose interest in further developing the M1911, and after WWII, they started looking for a smaller caliber, lighter weight handgun with a smaller frame.
After 1926, Colt, the Army Marksmanship Unit’s armorers, and skilled civilian gunsmiths were left to innovate the design of the M1911 using their talent and inventiveness. A profile for the M1911 developed in the latter half of the twentieth century as a result of the collective experience of soldiers, law enforcement officers, gunsmiths, metallurgists, competition shooters, and others: make it lighter, more accurate, smoother, better sights; bring back the longer trigger and flat mainspring housing of the M1911; make it capable of handling contemporary hollowpoint ammunition with reliability; give it a match grade trigger; and make it aesthetically pleasing. Kimber did a great job of capturing this characteristics with the Pro CDP II.
The M1911A1 is not flawless (heresy), despite being possibly the world’s most popular autoloader handgun design. It is large and heavy, has subpar sights, and has only fair accuracy when used for military purposes. (Kuhnhausen claims that government armorers would accept anything that was better than an 8″ pattern at 50 yards.) Pistol shooters today expect more from their weapons. In the Pro Carry and Pro CDP family of handguns, Kimber has interestingly responded to complaints of the M1911 design.
